I have any 89 lx 5.0. I am putting Wilwood rear disc brake kit on the car. I have a stock 89 rearend with 2.5 offset and stock axles. I have noticed there is a 1/16 to 1/8 play in the axles moving side to side. This is with the stock differential parts put together the way the factory did it.

*** Does all fox mustang have this play?
*** Does the sn95 mustangs have this play even thou they have stock rear disc brakes?
*** Has any one put on a rear disc brake conversion? or one from Wilwood?
*** Does this play in axle movement tear up the caliper?
*** Can any one help with alittle info????

yes this play is in all 7.5-8.8 rears. its due to not being like a 9" and having a pressed on retaining plate and bearing. only thing that holds our axles in is 2 "C" clips and a bar.
as for the other questions.
yes sn95's are the same lil less possibly due to the anti lock brake parts.
nope never installed a wilwood kit...shouldnt be to hard though.
nope calipers wont be torn up due to them floating the on the brackets.

the c-clip eliminator kit was something i was thinking about. Wilwood said that the play shouldnot hurt the calipers. I am hoping it will not. Sure hate for the brakes to go out. Then you hit something. I have to replace my axles. I have the pin and c clips out. The a 10 year old can put the kit on if they have enough muslce strength to get the bolts of. Thanks for the info
