Default Plugs & Wires & Dist. Caps...OH MY!

Okay, as part of my "I just bought it let's make sure its runnin' right" checklist, I want to replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Onec again, what brand/type of set up do you all suggest for a '91 GT 5.0 auto.? Thanks (again),

keenr

my personal prefrence is Ford Motorsport 9MM wires, Bosch +4's ($5.99 a plug) and Wells gold series cap and rotor... they worked great on my Vert.

Thanks Vortex,
I've always liked Bosch too. Where do you get your parts? Parts store or on-line?

Went to buy the Bosch +4's and the best price I found is $5.99 each. Anyone know where I can get them cheaper? Also, they told me these plugs don't need to be "gapped". Is that right? Thanks guys for any input,

keenr

no the $5.99 is the cheapest. they are expensive, but they are one of the best this side of iridiums. and no they dont need to be gapped, im not sure how you would gap em anyway... 4 electrodes ya cant get a gapper down there.

I would stick with Autolites or Motorcrafts, cheap and last long.

Platinums, iridium and trick multi electrode plugs require better coils, imho not worth it. Yet too see a Dyno test of stock plugs vs "exotics", i bet not much gain in there if any.

I would not go with ford motorsports spark plug wires, there are much better wires on the market, such as MSD.

Yeah, just get the MSD 8.5 and their cap and rotor. I tried 2 sets of FMS blues and they were just too long. MSD's are just the right length. Plus, neither set of FMS wires came with the right coil wire. I called motorsport and they said I just needed to modify the short one. WTF? I wanted a plug and play set so I sent them back and got the MSD's. Lower resistance anyhow.

I got a set of FMS 9mm reds and they fit just fine. I got them online pretty cheap at MustangsUnlimited.com for 47 bucks with handling. Mine came with two coil wires because the wires were for 5.0/5.8 engines

Same here. I am running FMS 9mm reds on both my stangs and they fit like a glove.
