Question Installation of 24lb injectors in a 1989 Ford Mustang GT 5.0

I am going to install 24lb injectors. I've heard that they need to be slanted a certain way. Is that so? If so, how should they be slanted? Thank you.

For each fuel injector, wiggle it a little and it'll pop off. Each one will squirt a little gas, Replacing them is easy pop the new injectors back in place. Be sure to put a little lubricant use 20-weight engine oil on the O-rings. Leave the protective caps on the fuel injectors until they are in their final position. Get the fuel rail and injector assembly positioned to nearly where it has to go; just before pushing each injector into place, remove the cap and lubricate the O-ring.
Reattach the fuel lines.

Don't forget about a recalibrated MAF for those injectors.

Thanks. I've ordered the MAF, should have it in a couple of days. Glad I found this site.

You'll see the angle they'll be at when you take the others out. Don't be surprised if you have to get firm putting in the new ones, the o rings don't always cooperate.

When I replaced mine, I installed them into the rails first. I kept the cap on the bottom of them until I had all of them ready. Then I used the rails to press them down into place. This put them in at the right angle and it spread the load as I pressed them into place.

Hi everyone,I'm gonna put a fuel pressure guage on when I put the injectors on. What pressure should I set it at?
Where do I adjust(turn up) the gas for the pressure? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You have to have an adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator to adjust the pressure. But even if you adjust it higher, the ECM will compensate in other areas. basically it will trim back fuel coming out of the injectors after you raise the pressure. So its really not worth it on a stock setup

Thank you, It's not a stock set up. The only thing thats still stock is the injectors. I was told there was a switch or dial(something to adjust it) on the back side of the motor but by just looking I don't see anything, but I haven't taken it apart yet. I'm gonna start this weekend. Will I still be spitting in the wind if I get a adjustable fuel regulator? Should I just install the injectors and not worry about the fuel pressure? Will it take care of itself? Thank you again. You've been a big help.

Agreed, let us know what your set up is.

I would leave the stock regulator on. If the fuel pump is doing what its supposed to, then the engine vacuum will take care of the rest.
