I'm planning on gettin a performance tranny pretty soon (stock tranny has seen better days) and i wanted to hear from people that have installed one and what they recommend or if anyone can give some advice. I want an AOD. I know Lentech and Tremec offer transmissions that can take a beating. Eventually my car will be making 400-450 hp so i want something that can take that and stil be daily drivable. My stang is not putting out that kinda hp yet but it is in the plans so I went with a Lentec tranny with the electronic override delete. So far so good. Tranny works real nice! From the research I did prior to buying it, it should have no problem handling 400-450hp and then some

Don't forget Artcarr. I believe they have been around allot longer. Artcarr has been makin bullit proof trannies for off-road for years. And make plenty for an AOD
Lentech will never get another dime of my money! They sold me a faulty valve body then refused to take responsibilty for it. As far as I'm concerned Lentech Automatics is a group of thieves.
I've seen a number of lentech equiped cars including the white and black 900 horse smallblock camaro that runs at my old track in luskville quebec.....THEY WORK !!!!! As far as taking responsibility,this is the first complaint I've EVER heard.Not to deny your claim Nic or even doubt your claim,just saying this is the first I have ever heard of an unsatisfied customer of theirs.
So,I would highly recomend them.
ps.I forget the camaro owners name but I helped swap out a powerglide and two t-400's in San-air in aug '97.(3 day week-end) 900hp was before nitrous,and after the lentech aod I saw it run for two years with out a problem before I left there.Oh, the camaro was a "street car" and weighed around 3000#.
I've ran across 4 or 5 cases very similar to my experience. Seems as though they make a great product but as with any company a few come out bad. The problem lies in their refusal to take responsibility for it when it does happen though. I still think they're thieves.
I have dealt with Performance Automatics and they are great. Their products are great and if you have a concern or a problem they really work with you to solve it.
Any tranny recommendations?
