Default Would an Engine Oil Cooler help my cars general performance?

I have recently decided to seriously start looking at putting an engine oil cooler in my car. When the Oil temp is under 190 the car is supper fast and probely gets better gas millage. When the Oil temp gets around 210 or 220 then the car noticably drops off in performance. I guess my question is would an Engine Oil Cooler really keep my car running at 200 or below all the time? If so what Oil Cooler is a good one to get?

Slightly off topic...

I'm assuming you have an oil temperature guage. Where does it mount on your block?

And this 190-220º temperature is with petroleum based engine oil or synthitic engine oil? There is such a thing as TOO cool by the way.

yes I have a oil temp gage. It currently is mounted to the oil pan. I have been told this was the wrong place and I am going to get a t fitting and mount the sensor to an outlet line. Right now I am using castrol 20w-50 for the summer. In the winter I will use 10w-30. How cool is to cool?

OK, so is that Castrol 20W-50 and 10W-30 petroleum-based or synthetic?

Oil must be brought to an optimal operating temperature so it may "burn off" moisture (water) in the crankcase. Water in the oil can combine with combustion byproducts that happen to blow by the rings and form acids in the oil, which breaks down the oil and can corrode or form rust on anything in the crankcase.

petroleum-based, I took a stock lincoln 5.0 276,000 with this combo, until I tried synthetic and dropped a bearing. Thats a sd love story for another day.

Bearing failure was no fault of synthetic oil.

One benefit of many of synthetic oil: lower operating temperature.

Mobil 1 if you want a less expensive oil that you can have in your hand within 5 minutes.

AMSOIL, Red Line, or Royal Purple if you want a BETTER synthetic oil than Mobil 1 but can wait a few days to have it shipped to your door (unless you can find a dealer in town).

You get what you pay for.

Blends were made for people who think they're getting a synthetic oil at petroleum oil prices.
