Default 1986 Mustang GT clutch cable mystery, tightens itself

Here's a puzzler for you. I've got a 1986 Mustang GT 5 speed. I recently installed a 12 lb. flywheel, spec stage II kevlar disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. It also has an adjustable cable, Steeda quadrant and firewall adjuster. When it was first installed, the adjusting nuts on the cable were about half way down the threaded portion. At this setting the clutch would engage just off the floor. After about three days I noticed the clutch engaging at the top of the pedal, so I re-adjusted the cable( backed the nuts off). After another three days it was engaging at the top of the pedal again, so again I re-adjusted the cable. This continues to happen and now I'm out of room on the cable, no more room to back off adjusting nuts. I've had cables stretch and need to be tightened but I've never heard of one constantly needing to be loosened. By the way the clutch operates normally with no problems. Anyone have any ideas?

The only things I can think of that would cause the problem you described are deflection of the rubber cable bushing at the firewall, or wear of the clutch disc, but that kind of wear rate is unheard of.

This is a new cable. The fact that it worked fine at first leads me to look elsewhere, unless of course he cable shrank by two inches over the course of two weeks. At this point the cable is now so tight, I only have to push the pedal about two inches to disengage the clutch to shift. I'm about done with this and thinking about getting rid of the car altogether.

The car I am working on now I think has the same problem have you come up with a cure for it????

Im thinking maybe the quadrant may be doing it.

I am also thinking that a conversion to a Hydraulic clutch would cure a whole lot of evils!
From what I understand Summit has a nice kit for a few hundred bucks.

Found the problem. Ball on clutch fork backed out of bellhousing. Clutch fork randomly changed positions causing much grief. Now if I could only figure out how to install the !#@$%@#$ top cover I'd have it made.
