I've got the lower intake off now , I'm sending it off to TMoss tommorrow for a port job so it will be down for awhile . I have 106,000 on the clock should I throw on some head gaskets while I'm waiting ? The valve covers are off right now too .

I"d do it...Then send ur heads to the local machine shop and have them mill some off and do a valve job

i dont get it. if iwere doing the heads, id replace all the gaskets with new ones. IMO, its like saying the rear main seal looked fine when doing the clutch, so ill leave it. makes no sense. for head gasket, go with high quality, not fel-pro etc. good luck
He's doing the intake not the heads....And fel pro are good head gaskets..I'm running them on my car and have no probs and i spray 275 hp

my bad. i was reading the replies and agreed it made sense to freshen the heads up. thinking that, my reply was made.
not knocking fel pro. i have just heard some negative things about them as head gaskets. but then something negative can be said about anything....
Jason, what heads do you currently have on the engine now? Cam? Pistons? Might as well pull them and if nothing else at least port match intake and exhaust to maximize your upper intake port work!!!

Yeah man, you're halfway done with the hard part of changing the gaskets already, might as well go ahead and do it. It'll give you a chane to get a good look at the inside of your motor also, you can check out how things are holding up in there. I would do it just for the peace of mind of knowing exactly how things look in there.

well I got them off . I have a slight coolant leak either in the intake or head gasket on the #8 cylinder . I can tell by the burn pattern on the head and the top of the piston . cylinders all look really good . no scuffs or ridges . Good thing I pulled the heads because I might not have noticed it . Oh yeah . the ford engineer that came up with the lower plug for the alternator shoud be flogged in the package until he bleeds

There ya go man, you would never have known had you not changed the gaskets and you would be redoing some ( a lot ) of work. Good catch, glad everything else looks good in there.
