Question Adjustable fuel pressure regulator questions. How does it work?

I'm going to be getting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for my 93 Cobra. I've decided on the Professional Products one because it can go as high as 75psi. So if I install this thing I can crank it all the way up and will my car run at 75psi all the time? Is this really how it works?

Or is there a better brand to go with?

I wouldn't. It was just an example... and I'll admit, a bad one.

Technically speaking, you would only see 75psi at WOT...

The regulator regulates the pressure difference between the intake air charge pressure and the fuel pressure.
This makes the fuel injector metering more consistent between different running conditions.

If you need more than a couple of psi change from the baseline/factory range of ~38-42psi, then I would look for problems in the setup. Vac leaks, exhaust leaks, mis-calibrations, codes, etc.

What mods do you have that need the adj regulator?
Future plans?

Most people put them on to be cool. As long as the stock regulator is functioning properly I'd just use it. 40psi on a N/A setup is fine for the majority out there. Like Jason as said, anymore than a few Psi, there's an underlying problem.

The vehicle is supercharged and the FMU is garbage and not doing its job of upping the fuel pressure. I figure I'd just get an adjustable regulator and be done with it.

DM I noticed you have another post out there and was wondering what fuel pump are you running with your 24 lb injectors?

I have shot air into the FMU line with compressed air and this caused the fuel pressure to spike and the pump and everything else held up just fine. This FMU just isn't working correctly so I was trying to bypass the whole thing.

I'd be looking at some bigger injectors also. 24's seem small, unless your running 2psi boost...LOL

on any blower car you should run a 255 pump and ditch that fmu. The 255 pump by itself is good to run whatever you want to run unless you plan on making over 500 horsepower later on. bigger injectors , and yes you need the adjustable regulator with the blower if your running more than about 6 pounds of boost. Im running a vortech v1 @ 10 psi with 255 pump , #42 injectors , And an adjustable regulator. I had a stock pump and regulator and #30 injectors and it hit a feul cut at 4800 rpm's and shortly afterward my stock feul pump went out.

All that money invested in boost and people always cheap out on the tuning.

Install a stock regulator and get a custom tune..... Just my opinion though.....
