Default 1986 Mustang GT Clutch Adjustment

I had the clutch replaced recently. It engaged about 2 inches from top. I attempted adjusting according to the manual, lifting the clutch pedal with toe, then pushing clutch in slowly. Results are that the clutch engages less than 1 inch from the floor now, pushing it in hard. Any suggestions would help.

If it was engaging as soon as you stepped on the pedal, then ajdusting it will only make it release even quicker.

If you look up under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal, you will see the half moon "sprocket" that is the adjuster. You can adjust it by hand by releasing the arm that engages the sprocket and moving it one or two teeth.

General rule of thumb is you need between 1/8" and 1/4" gap between the face of the bearing and the fingers on the pressure plate when the pedal is all the way out at the rest position.

Is that something that can be seen just by taking the clutch fork cover off on a t-5?
