intake vacuum hose routing and clutch cable troubles
I need some info concerning the two vacuum hoses that are connected to the back of the upper intake on the 87-93 5.0s. I've got one plugged in- it goes to a small device on the passenger side shock tower, and I'm sure that it is in the correct spot, it's the nipple from the intake closest to the driver's side is what I'm missing. I don't have any hose of that size without a home, so I'm pretty stumped as to what goes there. Sorry for the vague description, I'm haven't looked at it in a while. Also, there is a rubber hose that comes from the cruise control assembly and is routed into the engine compartment, roughly a 1/4" rubber hose. Anyone know where that goes?
The next question concerns the clutch. It won't engage unless the pedal is depressed entirely to the floor. I think it might be stretched, but is just came from a car where it worked relatively well, now it works like crap. It's adjusted in the quadrant as tight as it can get, so I think I may be looking at a new cable here. Any opinions as to if it would be a good idea getting a firewall adjuster as well?
Thanks

The nipple that is closest to the drivers side is for your pcv valve... I find it extremely odd that you don't have that hooked up. Does your car idle funny or is it capped off?

Do yourself a big favor. Get a steeda quadrant and adjustable cable. My clutch pedal used to be a huge workout and my cables would always stretch. After using it for about 3 months now, it still moves freely and works perfectly.
Do not buy an autozone or oreillys cable! It is crap. Ive stretched 4 of those so far. Just buy the good stuff. The firewall adjuster is cool too , but if you dont mind adjusting it under the car you dont need it. One thing steeda should of done is include a washer on the part that locks the cable into the clutch fork.Stick a small but strong washer inbetween.
Ebay has good prices on steeda stuff.
Well the clutch problem is figured out for now, I might end up getting a new quadrant and cable anyway, but it works for now.
I'm gonna have to look at the intake and give a better description as to which nipple it is. I have the PCV valve hooked up. There are two that are identical about an 1 1/2" apart, I have one hooked up. I'll try to remember to look at it. On a brighter note, the car drives now, first time in about 4 months, after a total rejuvination.

black88lx, it depends on if sedate88lx has the California '88 which has mass air. Speed density measures vacuum from the manifold where mass air measures air outside the manifold (no vacuum connection).

There are 5 hose connections on my 92 LX 5.0. Two large 3/8 hoses an three small hoses. 1 large hose goes to the vacuum tree on the drivers side firewall to provide vacuum for your brakes and other accessories, the other large hose is for your PCV Valve. One of the small hoses at the back goes to a vacuum tree on the passenger side fender well and provides vacuum for your ERG and air pump, the other small hose at the back goes to your fuel pressure regulator on the passenger side fuel rail at the back (note this may not require a vaccum hose if you have changed the fuel rails and installed an aftermarket regulator). The last small hose goes to your charcoal canister passenger side front. It is worth noting that on a stock or cobra manifold the PCV valve connects to 2 places on the upper intake, 1 at the base of the upper intake and 1 at the back of the air box on the upper intake on the drivers side. The PCV must be connected in both places to function properly. Hope this helps.
