Default 2.3l to a 351C

Well might be getting my hands on a 77 cougar with a 351 drivetrain. The might part is that I may be trading another car of mine to get the cougar... depending on costlyness of the project. I have a 93' Mustang hatchback 4 cyl mated to a 5 speed. I've heard the 5-speed is compatable to a 5.0L engine, ofcourse replacing the bellhousing to do so. So my questions are.. Would the 5-speed work with the 351? and what else is absolutley needed, the engine is a stock cleveland, Also... would I be able to stick the rearend of the cougar into the mustang without much hassle? Or would the original drive train altogether work? Thanks for any replies.. im kinda up the creek right now with out a paddle!

Talking 93 4 to 8 swap

Hello just finished a swap and have several ?'s please help if you can. first i used 92 f150 5.0, installed b303 cam, ho manifold, rpm aliumn heads with 202 160 valves, 24# inj, 80mm mas calibrated ,and bbk eqaul length shortys and last but not least powerdyne 6# supercharger, A9L ecm, 91 harness. Still need o2 harness any way, fired up have exauhst leak at header to mac h pipe. Is this common with bbk to mac? next engine won't start unless i open throttle, also i still have stock 4 cyclinder pump in it I'm not sure about the lph ,engine is hunting is this because of supercharger or cam or both. I also used the tranny from the f 150 the shiter was a cable on truck it was a rod on 4 cycl i will have to fab a rod if i use a stock shifter. just a note the 93 has no fuel pump relay had to wire it in 93 4 cycl is controlled by ccm fan a/c fuel all in 1 module any way let me know what you guys think Thanks Robert ps my snap on scanner shows one code koeo 67 nuetral crkt or a/c on, I think the wires are diffrent between 93 and truck sender or I dont have a/c harness on it not sure.

dont know about the fuel pump lph but im the king of wiring issues, you car is a 93? if so you need a harness from a 93 only, your 91 harness dosent have a fuel pump relay, its in the can and the 93 car dosent have a relay, its in the harness,

kzae: the 4cyl trans is good i have one in my swap, you have to change the bell housings over, i had a issue with the release bearing shaft eing a little too short and the bearing would hang up, you cant swap them because the front bearing is smaller on the v8 trans, adjusting the cable seemed to do the trick, i dont know about a 351 though i have a 5.0 in mine and it takes constant abuse, the rear ends are differnt, i dont know what the capri has but my 90 4cyl had a 7.5 and the 50 had a 8.8 with a factory trac loc (posi) and it wasend that hard to swap.

Default kzae-are you sure?

are you sure you have a cleveland eng.?- they were only built for about 3 years, and 77 wasn't one of them.but if you do have a cleveland, everything bolts up to it including the t5,you will need a bearing for the trans to fit proper.---great minds must think alike, i picked up a 351c for free thinking about haveing gone through for my 91,which is in the process of the 4cyl to carbed 8

Default 88 4 cyl to 91 GT 5.0

I,m converting my 88 mustang convertable 4 cyl car to 5.0 power using a 91 GT (wrecked) as the donor car. What mods do I have to do to the harness.
I want to use the 88 dash harness and the 91 computer harness. Will the headlight harness work of the 91 or will I have to modify the 88 harness?

Thanks

you cant use the 91 harness in the 88, look at the connectors on the 88 near the brake booster: it has 2, 1 black, 1 gray, the 91 harness has only one: brown, the headlight harness should work, whe i used an 91 headlight harness one my 90 swap the horn made the front parking lights come on and the parking lights made the horn blow, i just swaped the connections, your best bet is to find an 88 or 89 main engine harness and use it,

When swapping the front spindles, do you need to change the control arms or balljoints or can you just install the new spindles on the existing control arms and ball joints and call it a day?
