What I did was I refrenced between 4 books and used the internet then I just soldered some wiring together and away we go. It really isn't that terrible to do. As long as you know what each wire does as far as sending units and such. You will have to take the engine harness and ECC from the 5.0 car and put it into the 4cyl car anyway. That doesn't take very much to do. Then you just have to intergrate the fuel pump relay, gauges, and that sort of thing. Try this web site it's very helpful. If not I can scan you some diagrams that I used and email them to you. Just fire me an email and I will have your address.

With all this talk about wiring problems, which is what i ran into, i took the easy way out before i got started. Go carbed!!!! less wiring problems!!!
Still have the 4 cyl. t5 in place, used an old 302-before it was being called a 5.0 but i guess if you live where you cant get away with it,you guys are in for some fun,with that wiring.

i just did a conversion from a 88 4 banger and put everything from a 92 gt where the wire harness hooks up on driver side firewall.you need to move some pins around the only thing i had to do is hook up a toggle switch for the fuel pump which i'm trying to figure out.but the car runs great.imade a small wire harness from the 4 cyl harness.if you don't do this the car won't start,the ingnition wire is in this part of the harness.

i did not change anything in the dash i have a 88 4cyl and put in a 92 h.o in it the only thing i had to change was where the 4 and 8cyl wire harness meet on the fire wall change some pins there and you don't have to chang anything in the dash.

90 to 91 should plug right in if not check the driver side firewall you might haveto change some pins there i had to do from a 88 4 to my 92 5.0 swap

I'm starting my 5.0 swap today. Picked up a clean 93 hatch with sunroof for 500. Bought my buddy's FULL Exhaust (flowmaster 40's), tremec 3350, Rear end with 3.73's and eaton posi unit, for 800 bucks. Tell me that ain't a steal! I'm plannin on goin carb'd to bypass all the bull**** so it should be a pretty easy swap. Wish me luck!

Ok heres an odd one...well maybe its not. I have a 95 GT...its in so so condition and I may be getting a fox 4 cyl coupe or pehaps a GT. What all can I transfer from the 95 to the fox? My plans are to use what I can and sell the rest of the 95 to pay my property and school taxes.

Been there, and still trying to figure it out. Your best bet it do get 2 foxes, or 2 sn95's. I have a fox ecu, wiring harness on the 95 engine with connectors from both harnesses. It has been put on the back burner with racing season here. It would have been alot easier to plug and play with a couple of foxes.

Ok so I see all this talk on the 4 cyl to v8,what about the straight 6 to v8,I am going to do this but I read that the K member is no good,so how do I remedy this??

shovelhead,
you have no choice but to switch out the" k" member, with your ride being a 6cyl. but look at it this way-know you can get all that lite weight stuff and modern susp. too

I'm also doing 5.0 swap and i am really getting frustrated with the wiring what do i need to do.... i've already switched the ecu harness what in all do i need to change on the driver side or link to the other harness..if u guys can try to be as detailed as possible... oh yeah it is a 89 coupe and speed density harness

k fellas. i did a 4cy to 8. this is how I started. i looked for the cleanest(no rust) 4 banger. it might take time, but its worth it. look in the south. no rust!. then, find a donor. I used my 88 as one. I blew the motor, but it was a RUSTANG! I guess it depends on how deep ur pockets are. on the cheap, u can buy a stock NEW 302 for about 1300 or so. ur idea of a 4 cyl tranny on a 8cyl wont work. t5s can be had for about 800 used. ive put about 8gs in my car! 347 stroker, tko 600 tranny ect. look @ my profile 4 details. and good luck!
