Default Updateto my project

Howdy all, hope your all having an awesome beginning to your New Year.

Attached are a couple of pictures of the progress that I am making on my 5.0 conversion.

Just placed in the engine with transmission that I was working on. Note to all novices like me that are doing this. Check your parts that you purchase. I found that the auto-parts store gave me 2 of the same side engine mounts. Wrong time for me find that out just before placing the engine in.

Open to any suggestions and advice on re-wiring this back together. I think I am going to be having some serious nightmares with joining up the 88 GT Engine wiring harness with the 90 LX dash harness.

Semper Fi and Happy New Year,
John

I have a 89 4 cyl. that i am in the process dropping the 5.0 out of my 90 5.0 stang. i just need to know if the 90 5.0 harness will work without any changes needed in the 89. the 89 4cyl car doesnt have airbags but my 90 5.0 did does that make a difference? also my 90 fuel pump relay was under the driver seat. where is it at on the 89?

I bought a 4banger to V8 swap that appears was not complete. I am trying to figure out what motor it is. The kid i bought it from says it is a 302 but, i can not find any of the markings on the motor to verify this. It is an old enough engine that it has points and the fuel pump is on the block not in the fuel tank. We have gotten the firing order we believe in the right way. We are trying to get it timed so we can run it. What is a normal timing setting for V8 ford 302. I have looked under the starter for the number. I have looked on the block on the drivers side by the motor mount and the intake is not original. The only place I have not looked for an engine code is under the heads and I dont want to remove them to get it. Where else might I find the engine code.

its not so much dropping the motor in thats a pain, its getting the 5.0 harness settled in there. and because its not a 99 or newer motor, you'll have to deal with getting it to pass current date emissions(cant spell for damn).

So I'm in the middle of swapping in my 5.0L into a 4 banger, and i've got a question about the importance of the vacuum lines for the upper intake manifold, smog pump (which im removing) and whether or not i need them. Im not worried about A/C, C/C and brakes.

I have completed the swap from a 88 LX using a 91 LX as a donor, I did have tochange two wires for the fuel pump but other than that runs like a champ. My question is what is the quickest qay to check to see if the cruse control is working. Right now saince the change it hasn't worked, I took the complete cruse system out of the 91 and thought it would work , NOT> Right now i'm trying to trace the wires to see if I have any power. If any one has any Ideas let me know.

Question I need help with my distributor

I'm new to the ford world. so maybe someone can help me. I have a 1984 coupe with a 5.0 that came factory with a v6. the 5.0 has a factory distributor and I was wondering if it was possible to wire it up like an aftermarket? it has 3 wires coming off it. I was wondering if i could wire it straight to my coil. and what wires go where. any help would be appreciated.

What up everyone. This one maybe a first to everyone but i have a 1996 2.3 ford ranger with manual tranny. I am about to buy a 302 from an 88 stang for $150 and runs great. I am wanting to keep it manual and want to try to keep my tranny form the ranger if thats possible. I want to do the swap but need help in what i am doing. someone told me all i need to do is buy a conversion kit for the tranny and buy the motor mounts. anyone got any idea?

I am currently doing the 4cyl to 351w swap, I have read just about all 20 pages of this. I have a 88 lx, I have removed the 4 banger and I have my 351 ready to install, I plan on running a carb on this setup, but I'm having motor mount issues. I bought some 302 motor mounts and there is no way I can mount them to the engine. Any help would be grantful.

Default 4 cylinder Aod To 5 speed 5.0

I am currently balls deep in a 5.0 T5 conversion. I have a beat up, twisted, rusted, 91 GT That only has money in the engine. And I have a clean 91 4 banger that appears to have been driven by a granny(I bought it in florida so thats a real possibility)for $2000 so I could have another car to drive and prepare for the swap.

Well the time has come and I have amassed a pletera of parts to help make this worth while. Including A fresh proshifted T5 w/hurst shifter, Aluminum drive shaft, Stage 3 Clutch, Billet fly wheel, and all other Trans part bought fresh.

I have been working on this swap for about 4 days now with no help at all And have managed To get both engines and wireing out and the 5.0 set in But not hooked up yet. I also have the fuel tanks and lines removed. Since it was an Auto I also spend significant time swapping peddels and removeing the stock shifter, which I underestimated. I thought I would be able to just pull it out real quick, it dont work like that. I couldnt get to the front left bolt with the center counsil in place. Its probly a good thing since there is a big ass aluminum plate on the bottom of the shifter that I dont think would have fit through the shifter hole.

I also swapped the throttle cable since they were different. Be forwarned there is a plate right behind the fire wall that stopps the cable from coming out. I just yanked it but you might be able to do it if you had the pedels out, but other wise it would be nearly impossible to reach, let alone reinstall. If you pull it just enough you will be able to work it out with out damageing the little plastic clip the holds the cable on the pedel. I also have the gauge cluster swapped.

There are a few things to be aware of. the 4 cyl motor mounts have 2 bolts per side. The second one is almost invisible unless your looking for it and the driver side gave me suck a hard time I grinded the ******* off. Also the fuel line supports are riveted in some places. I fust grinded the heads off those.

I am leaveing the rear end in it for now until I have new control arms and shocks because there is no way ill be able to get them off in swappable condition.

Ill be hooking up the wireing and vaccume system tommaro and getting the motor and ignition ready to fire. Im still waiting for my T5 exaust mount . Its been forever. Also I ordered the wrong pressure plate bolts, so im waiting for the right ones to come.

All in all it has been pretty strait forward and allot of hard work but it should be worth it. I hurt right now but ill get over it and ill have a clean, strait stang that is almost 18 years old.
