I will address some wire issues. Like which years are compatible and where your connectors are located.

Just a thought.....

Don't do a swap unless you have a donor car available. With the cost of relatively nice FOX Mustang 5.0's at an affordable range, it is muc less expensive to just buy a 5.0 car. My swap is costing Buku dollars. The only advantage is I am building it my way from the ground up. If having a totally custom car is not your gig, then I would suggest looking for a decent 5.0, dollar for dollar, you can't build it for the same price.

I have 91 coupe that was converted. It has an Edelbrock 600cfm carb. Question I have is the tranny. I'm pretty sure 99.8% the tranny is a 4cyl. Is it posible to drop the tranny and rebuild it to a 5.0L . I would love the experence.

It is possible, as I think that the transmissions are basically the same except the 5.0 T5 is stronger and has a higher first gear.

I have the add for the rolling chassis ....i want a 5.0 to be my swap car for my wrecked 88 GT. I Figured it would be easier and cheaper to do.
I know the 4 banger swap can be done but it would take longer, wouldn't it?

ok guys heres one for you. im lookin to pick up a '92 automatic 4 CYCL convertible mustang as my winter car. i will have my motor from my 94 available tho since over winter im puttin in a 331 stroker DSS, so i'll have my stock heads, cam, block, oil pan, etc. etc. everything essentially. im thinking about making it CARB it keep it simple. but will this 4 cyl tranny bolt up? is it an AOD? i wont do this till next summer after i get my current car finished, just lookin ahead.

No, the A4LD auto will not bolt up to a 5.0.

I have a wrecked 88 convertible 5.0 GT with automatic which I bought for $1000. I bought it as a donor for a mustang II based kit car. All I needed was the engine and wiring harness. I also just bought an 88 LX convertible 4 cylinder 5 speed for my son. He isn't able to drive a stick so I had to swap to an automatic trans. The C-4 wouldn't fit so I looked in the junkyards for an AOD or A4LD. Either one would have cost $350 for the trans then $125 for the new computer. I imagine that the cost of going from a 4 banger to a 5.0 would start adding up quickly unless you had two cars that were almost the same model and year!
