Default cam installation on a 1986 Mustang 5.0....

does anyone know what the deal is with the 1986 5.0 motor when it comes to a cam install? i've been hearing different things and don't really know what to believe. i heard i need different pistons, then somenone else said no i dont. can you guys help me out here???? thanks

Whatever cam you install. You need to check the Piston to Valve Clearance. The problem is the no valve reliefs on the stock 86 pistons.

The 1986 pistons are true flat tops, with no valve reliefs. That really limits your cam choices, not to mention the speed density system as well.

can i swap out the pistons w stock 1987 pistons? what is the solution to this problem?
