Exclamation Help 1987 mustang Leaking Coolant

Today while removing my sway bar I noticed some liquid under the car. it wasnt oil come to fid out its coolant. I shined a blue light towards the water pump (Blue LED's make Coolant Glow green) I can see coolant coming out from the water pump seal. Not a whole lot just a small amount.

Now my question is should i replace the entire water pump or do you thing it is just the seal that has gone bad?

mustangs are a lemon for water pumps, i went threw 3 in 2 summers. everytime it was the inside gasket, i would go with the new water pump it should only be around $110.

yeah when my stock one started leaking, I replaced it and it never totally stopped leaking since. Sealing those damn pumps is sort of hit or miss.

replace the pump with a new one, no rebuilds. use a good quality sealer and forget about it.

Go with new pump and gasket and sealant.......if you just replace the gasket and reseal 2 weeks later you'll be going back to do the pump funny how that stuff works out.

a new pump from advanced is like 30 bucks, even with countless runs down the track, no leaks, and its holding up, unless your reving your engine to 6000 rpm there really is not a need for a expensive heavy duty pump unless you have the cash to spend, always seal the plate to pump gasket on the new pump , they only spot glue from the factory....
