Default 1990 Mustang lx, cant get running

hey guys i just bought a 1990 lx 5.0 for cheap..and right before the guy sold it he hooked up jumper cables wrong for a second and sparked the battery. Now i have it and it seems like theres no fuel gettin to it..when you turn the key on..not to turn it over just on you cant hear the fuel pump. I tested the wiring to it and the tester has a light to tell if it is gettin power and it barely comes on..so i dont kno if its the wiring somewhere or if the fuel pumps gone..or any other suggestions to check would be nice thanks

If the battery had to be boosted to run it the first time, there is a chance that the battery is toast and has lost it's charge again. Or did you replace the battery with another one?

if the pump is not kicking on(assuming the battery is good) go ahead and check the fuel pump relay(under the drivers seat).

check your fuses first, then look for power at the component in question, this technique will save time,

check the ECU test connector ( somewhere around the brake booster and drivers side shock tower ) with a test light, one of the pins in it turns on the fuel pump.
Do this with the key in the on possition, if you do not here the fuel pump then check both sides of the fusible links for power, if they all have power and still nothing, then check the fuel pump relay either under the drivers seat or on the passengers side inner fender.
all of this shouldn't take about 15 or 20 minutes and will narrow down where your problem is.
I just went through this exact procedure, mine was the pump.
