Default 1985 Mustang -302 Serpentine problem

I've got a problem of going through belt after belt and I need to know what to do..
The only thing different that has been done is the removal of the smog pump. A/c is still on and of course power stearing...
I only have a hair of a clearance from the alternator to the idler pulley...which is causing the belt to burn and start to shred.
What should I do? None of the pulley seem out of line?
I'm using The Master pro-60775 which is just the right size but like i said I only have a hair clearance.. and for me going through belt after belt seem ridiculous! ..

Can some one please help?

Get the march tensioner pulley relocation. It moves the tensioner to where the pwr steering pump used to be.

first i would see if you can adjust your alternator if it has a slide bracket. If you cant do that I would take your idler pulley off and take it to a parts store and compare it to a new one and see if your is over extended.

your going to have to get a slightly shorter belt, i have the same problem but mine is after a couple years, i did a smog delete and i have underdrive pulley alt, waterpump, crank, so i have a simlar problem, the only fix is relocation brackets, or get a shorter belt, advanced an autozone are pretty cool with letting size belts, BTW with a shorter belt its going to take alittle muscle so have a buddy help you!!!!
