Exclamation 1992 Mustang convertible, Turn signals NOT working!

Hey guys(and ladies)
I have a turn signal problem in my 92 vert. My turn signals arn't working on the inside or the outside(blinking, flashing), BUT all 6 lights are on outside when i turn the headlights on. So in other words no bulbs are out and i checked all the fuses and none wore blown. So im thinking its internal in the column??any ideas, tips and input would be greatly appreciated. Oh,but the lights do flash on the outside ONLY when i turn on the emergency lights, hmmmm.
thanks

so basically the dual filament bulbs won't go to the brighter setting. That seems like a wiring problem to me so i'd investigate like you suggest in the steering column.

same here only my left blinker works. and the right just stays and dose not blink.

and another thing is when i turn my car on and go to to turn the lights on, and i use my fog lights at night also. when i turn the car on the fogs wont come on nor will the blinkers work. i have to pound on the steering wheel for a sec then they just start working again. really confusing and they were working not to long ago.

Also take a look at you mulit-function swith (the turn signal control) the contacts will get really corroded and cause similar issues to what yuo both are describing. Its fairly easy to pull out and clean most of the time it works.

Do hazards work? But the turn signals don't? There is a blinker switch behind the glove box. I believe it's blue.

i just had that problem....for me it was in the hazard switch, the wires started to come loose in the connector. i went through hell tracing wires and pullin the steering column apart....just pop the hazard switch out of the dash and fix the wiring...that might be your problem.

A reminder for the 4 eyed stangs have the flashers on the column not the dash like the 87-93s. For your turn signals I would replace the relay, its the big silver cylinder in the fuse box, has like 3 plugs or something.

On Fords, when you have a signal light burnt out, they don't blink faster, they just stay steady on when you engage the signal light. Activate your hazzard lights to see if any lamps aren't working and replace those. If Everything works fine, you may need to replace your turn signal flasher. It is NOT the one in the fuse panel, that one is for your hazzards. The turn signal flasher is located behind the radio bracket in the middle of the car. The factory flasher is light blue and plastic. you simply twist it 90 degrees to release it and unplug the 2 prong connector. A replacement flasher probably won't have the nub on the end to place it back in the bracket, but some wire ties will work fine.
