Default 1988 mustang running weird after a few minutes

ok lets start with the basics. Its a 1988 5.0L took off smog pump and a/c pump. Just put on new timing chain and o2 sensors. Ok now that you know what i have this is whats wrong, the car fires up fine and runs great till it warms up, usualy a mile down the road then it will bog down when the throttle is open. When i let off the gas it idles fine but as soon as you push on it a little it will bog down and even die if you hold it too long. The only code im gettin is 85. Any help will be much appreciated.

What's the timming set at? Mine was doing the same, advanced the timing a little, and plenty of power now...

Only code is 85 in both KOEO and KOER self tests? If not, then you need to run the Key on Engine Running tests. With smog removed, you should have code 94 and 44 logged in the KOER. That makes me think you didnt do that test.

Default ran KOER

i came up with code 94 44 and 33. The latter is egr valve didnt open, so im guessing that is my problem, i cant beleive i forgot to do the KOER test lol. Ill post back once i replace it and update if the problem is fixed. Also i am gettin a timing gun to test my timing this week to see where i am with that as well. Thanks guys.

Dont replace it yet. It could be the EVR solenoid thats bad.

Did you remove all the solenoids behind the passenger strut tower?

Plus the Code 33 wont cause issues. The EGR only causes issues when its stuck open all the time

You need to pull the vacuum line of the EGR valve and see if its pulling vacuum.

If you ran the KOER test while the engine was cold or under 160°, then code 21 will show. If the car was good and warm, then its probably the sensor.

You say you have good vaccum, but is it good on the EGR vac line?

If your positive the temp was good and warm. Then you either have a bad ECT sensor, or a problem in the wiring. If you have a volt meter, then Unplug the ECT sensor, turn the Key on, and hook the meter across the wires on the connector. If it shows 5v, the wiring is good, and the sensor is bad.

Where does the EGR vacuum line run to?

Not the vacuum line is in the right spot. I was just making sure you didn't have it on a constant manifold vacuum.

What about the test on the ECT wires?
