Default 1983 Mustang missing on 8?

Hey everyone,

Its been a while since I have posted on here so I just want to say hi first off.

Now to my problem. I have recently had my 302 rebuilt on a 1983 GLX (actually I went through most of the car). Anyway the car had a miss in it and it turned out that the number 8 cylinder was not firing. I put in a new cam and the wires/plugs/cap and rotor are new. The bearings in the distributor looked fine and as this was a budget rebuild was not replaced.

I have everything hook back up and the number 8 is still not firing. I changed the plugs around to try it out and still didnt fire. Changed the wires, didnt fire. I replaced the coil and its getting spark.

My only guess is that with the new cam the firing order might be different? But the other 7 cylinders are fine. I am at a lost and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the 10 pin plugs on the back of the TB They had a recall, not sure but I think thats what they had an effect on. Also did you check for spark @ the top of dizzy for #8?

I am running a carb, so theres no TB. The car seems to be in time also. My only other guess is the ignition control box. Any other thoughts?

If the firing order was the same it would still fire, just at the wrong time.

Do a compression test on #8.

I just rebuilt the engine. The compression is fine and I double checked with summit it is the stock firing order and in any case they both end with 8.

Ok, fixed it, the timing was seriously mess up. I mean like the wrong firing order and 180 degrees off on the distributor. I have no clue how it was even running. Oh well, thanks for your help guys.
