Default 1987 Mustang Convertible Top will not Close

Hi Guys.

At lunch today I decided to put the top down and left it down until I left for work. I drove home and when I arrived, I tried to put the top back up but it wouldn't budge and I couldn't even hear the motor working.

When I press the button the other way to Open it, you can hear the motor turning. But then I press the other way to close and it's silent.

I know my motor is not the best but it's been working and I can still hear it if I press it open even though it's already open.

Does this sound like a switch issue since I can still here the motor when pressing it open??

Is there an alternative to getting the top closed while this gets figured out before it starts to Rain here in South Florida?

Thanks in advance for the help guys

Run 12V to the motor?

I pulled the switch out and everything started breaking apart since it was so brittle. Come to find out it was a mechanical issue in the switch and not electrical. The spring and some plastic piece was broken so it would only slide over to open the top but wouldn't slide back over to close the top.

I took it apart and slid it over the close connection to close it manually.

Thanks for the help!! Now I just need to go buy a $80 convertible top/hazard light switch!
