Default Cant keep the battery charged on 1991 Mustang GT

so i drove 5 hours to look at this 91 mustang gt. when i got there i jumped in and took it for a test drive as we got back and shut the car off i gave him the money and filled out the title and what not, i get in hte car to go home and the battery is dead when i try to start it, so i thought no big deal we jumped it and i went to autozone there in town and bought a new battery. i got about 200 miles and the car just dies and as i look at the voltage meeter it reads that i have no juice. so i was thinking maybe the alternator so i went to oreillys and they put the tester thing on and said that the alternator tested bad and so i changed out the alternator right there in the parking lot. (i belive it has the 3g setup cause it didnt take the stock mustang alternator they had to find one that went to like a lincoln or something) so i get it on and thinking that was the problem solver i went on my way and got about 5 miles down the road and it died again with voltage meter slowly diving down.. i had the car towed home so now i dont even know where to start?

well thats what i thought but i changed it out with the one from oreillys but unless for some reason that was a bad alternator i dont know,
maybe faulty wiring?

Default Dead Battery

With the car running, Put a Digital or analog volt meter on the battery terminals. With the car running you should get 14.4- 14.8 VDC. If you have less than 13 volts, Turn the headlights on and watch if the voltage begins to decrease. (best seen with a digital volt meter) If voltage drops it is the alternator or wiring from Alt. to the battery.

from what you have said, you are obviously not charging. check the wires going back to the solenoid from the alt. there should be a yellow wire with white stripe and a green wire with red stripe going from the alt-green back to the gauge and yellow to the solenoid.check the yellow one. it will have a fusible link attached to the end of it before it attaches to the hot side of the solenoid. apparently your car has been converted, if this wire was left not connected your car willnot charge.
