Default Help with a 1989 Mustang GT SPUTTER

Ok..I've got a 89 gt and it has the 3k + rpm sputter that a lot of you have talk about. It feels like a spark plug wire has come off...but it goes away after a few seconds and runs fine. It doesn't do it all the time. I have sat here and read so many post about the same symptoms and not one had the fix at the end. (unless I missed it) This is really driving me crazy!!

Yes...I check codes. Low barometric voltage and low ECT voltage.
Replaced both with OEM motorcraft parts.
Yes...complete tune up. Cap, rotor, wires. plugs, fuel filter, I even put a rebuilt distributor and a new motorcraft module on it. All parts oem.

It has a new MSD coil on it that the previouse owner put on it before I got it. He told me he did a complete tune up the week before I bought it. It had cheap parts and platnium plugs ..thats why I did my own tune up.
Does anyone think maybe this coil could be bad and cause this ?

Thanks for any help!!

I had a 89 gt and had the same problem. If i remember correctly I think that it was the throttle position sensor. I think that it gets gummed up.

Does the idle jump up and down when in neutral?

There was no code for TPS...so I didn't change it. But I did clean my throttle body and tried a new MAF.

Idle is smooth...never moves.

It doesn't happen all the time....so it's really hard to try to figure out.

Check the vacuum lines and make sure there aren't any cracks. Also maybe you should check that the gas pump is working up to par.
