Default Which brand and which stall torque converter should I get?

I have put together some extra money and want change the stock converter as the next mod on the on the list. My question is: Which brand do I want to go with and what stall speed? I drive it everyday. Also, I have done some mods so far(listed below) and plan on getting a TFS Track Heat Intake, 65mm TB, 76mm MAF, 24 lb/hr injectors, and underdrive pulleys in the very near future. Thanks again for all the help.

Default torque converter

Is your cam shaft stock or are you running an after market cam? If you are running aftermarket cam your best bet is to consult a cam shaft manufacturer or a shop you will be purchasing it from. If you are running a factory cam then you should be looking at a stall speed of around 2200 to 2500 rpm max. For a street car I wouldn't run anything more then 3000 rpm stall converter because the biger the stall speed the hoter the transmision oil gets and there fore reduces the life of your transmission and also you will find that with the bigger stall speed you will need to apply more throttle to get the car to move. Remeber to fit a bigger external transmission oil cooler to prolong the life of your transmision.

I hope that helps.

Default Torque converter

You need to talk to a pro converter shop like Dynamic converters or Dynamic Transmissions they can guide you down the right road.
Converters have come a long way and you can get a hi stall torque that locks for hiway use

First of all, the Track Heat intake with stock heads and cam is a major mismatch. You'll be dissappointed if you go that route. With the stock heads/cam/intake, I'd go with something between 2400 - 2800 rpm. Don't forget to add a big trans. cooler and a hardened input shafter into your budget. TCI makes good converters on the lowend of the price scale. On the high end, you can't get a better made converter than Precision Industries. The converter will be the biggest SOTP gain you'll experience.

As far as the intake goes, I plan on replacing the heads and cam in the future. If the track heat is bad, which intake should I use? Thanks for the warning.

Depending on what transmission you are using there could be alot of different options on the converter. I could give you a good recommendation and tell you how much to expect to pay with all the information.
