Default Spare tire... yes or no?

I removed the spare tire in my '93 GT long ago because i read somewhere that it adds too much weight.

I recently relocated the battery to the truck on the passenger side. Now that i look and think about it, I believe that the spare tire *should* go back in the trunk. It will add needed weight to the rear tires resulting in better traction.

Agreeing?

I keep a real tire with and a real jack (none of this scissor jack and skinny tire crap).

I wouldnt abandon my car somewhere just because I had a flat to save weight. I want speed but not that badly.

I have mine in the car also. I would not want to leave the car on the side of hte hightway because of an flat tire. If you race it, take the tire and jack out at the track.

They require(or use to anyway) for you to take your tire and jack out of the car at the track. So there's really no reason to take it out.

After your next street race, ask your opponent to stop so you can remove the donut and jack. Than race him again.

If there's a difference, its not because of the spare and jack.

Keep it in the trunk.

Thanks to all.

I'll keep it on for weight distribution.

I'd never put on the donut. If i'd ever get a flat, i'll call a flat-bed tow truck to tow me home.
