hey whats up
how long does a 347 stroker last because i have heard that a ford stroker is not the way to go but i really have no idea so what would be better for my street car a 347 stroker or a 302 ?
thanks
James
What are you looking for? I have a 302 and a 347 is in the near future... What have you heard about the 347 that doesn't excite you? Maybe we can both learn from your question!

I went with a 331 from DSS last year. I've put over 15000 miles on it and I wouldn't change a thing. It has awesome low end for daily use and she screams up to 6 grand before you know it. I get about 22mpg on the hwy and it put over 325hp to the rear wheels last week. I have a full weight '94 GT and ran a best 12.47 @ 110.75 WITH 3.08 REAR GEARS!!! I haven't been out with the 3.73's yet, but I thing she'll do some low 12's.

'94 GT it's quick!
Contrary to popular belief, I'm only half as dumb as I look .
325RWHP on a 331, seems a little low in my opinion. Might be the cam. I would look into a custom if possible. That combo with a better cam should put over 350RWHP. As far as the 302/347 question. It is all prefferece. I like the 331 a little more.

I read an article that compared the 347 to the 331. Basically the 347 because of the longer stroke has a tendency to sideload, whereas the 331 does not. 347 is going to wear out your piston rings and cylinders quicker. With the right cam and performance heads, you can get 400+ rwhp from a 331. That would be my choice.
I've heard the same things about the 347s. They just take a toll on them selves over time. I like the 331s. You ever think about a 306. I was going to build a stroker but then I desided to stay small just a preference thing. PKstanger, how do you like the DSS motor. I am really interested in buying a Pro Bullet 306. Help me out man you got a DSS product sounds like you have really good luck with it.
im looking for a motor that will last plus be able to go out on the weekins and kick some ass.
i would like to be in the low 11's with the bottle
do you think that a 331 would be better than the 347 ?
Yeah 331 would be better. For the street a strokers good. You get some more grunt messin around. The 331 will last longer. So you won't have to worry about it dieing on you. I think you can do it with out a problem topkart8. A 331 with the right heads (AFR 185) and cam (FTI) on juice with a nice set up suspention you would be able to go into the 11s. WIth out a problem.
I have a 347 with AFR 185's and a trick flow 2 cam. It has a lot of power and have put about 10k on it. I have no problems with the engine either. This summer, I plan on going to an RPM intake as I am running with a performer 5.0 at the moment. The cam is ok but I think I could do better with an AFM cam. The cam I have has a .542 intake lift and a .563 exhaust lift. But she likes to scream to 6,000!

'94 GT 347 Stroker, TFS stage 2 cam (.542 lift), AFR 185 heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 30 lb injectors, 77mm Pro-M, Fox Accufab 75mm Throttle Body, 255lph fuel pump, Mac fox style Long Tube headers, Tremec TKO, aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 gears , Flowmaster 2 chamber, chrome Cobra R 17x9's, Steeda radiator, Eibach Sportline springs, Tweecer RT
pkstanger, LONGTUBES, better gears, more cam (your chokin that thing with only 218 intake duration! ) if you off the shelf, a TFS stage 2 would suit your nicely! do all this , drive the wheels off, and you should see a high 11 timeslip...

my buddy built a longrod 306 with 13 to 1 compression, that ran 6.90 in the 1/8th mile with a 5-speed on motor. he put a 300 shot of juice on it and went 10.2 @ 143 mph in the 1/4 mile. it spun bad on that pass too. he shifted at 8,200 rpm. but the block did'nt hold up, it split the block, a sportsman block, he's putting it back together with a 4 bolt block this time. if you want all the specs and parts i can get them from him.
