Default 1989 Mustang GT Convertible Top and Rear Window Not Working

Hey Everyone

I just bought a 1989 Mustang GT Convertible and am having problems with the Top and the Passenger Rear Window. The top went down fine but will not come back up. At the same time this happened, the passenger rear window stopped working. I check all of the fuses and they are working. Is the window motor for the rear passenger window and convertible top connected? Any ideas of what the problem could be would be great!

So I decided to work on the rear passenger window first and am saving the issue with the top for last. I took out the motor and verified that it is receiving power. I reinstalled the motor and it went up and down twice perfectly fine. On the third try the window went down fine but would not go back up. When I removed the motor and reinstalled it the window went back up fine. Then it went down fine once again and struggled going back up before finally not working on.

I opened up the motor and rather than having the three plastic bushings the previous owned stacked two nuts where each bushing would go. Would this have any affect on the window not working? When the motor is not installed it runs fine and does not jam or slow when moving in either direction. Does anyone know what the issue might be or possibly my next step?

Thank You!

I just wanted to keep people updated in case others have this same issue. Upon closer examination, the large plastic gear inside the motor is cracked. I believe this to be the issue. I am going to order the replacement part for this and will keep people updated on if it works.
