1988 Mustang Connecting Rods and Caps are stamped, Has it been rebuilt?
I just tore down a motor i picked up for a rebuild its out of a 1988 mustang 5.0, the Connecting Rods and Caps are stamped with the Cylinder #'s. First time i have had the pan off of a 5.0 does this mean the engine was rebuilt at one point or did they stamp at factory? May sound stupid, i know on previous chevy engines i have rebuilt i had to stamp or etch the numbers on the rods and caps, but the guy I bought the engine from didnt mention a rebuild, did say it ran when it was pulled though. What i do know: Standard 4 inch cylinder bore, TRW pistons but it came stock with those
It looks like they were stamped with a die and hammer, like i would do if i was rebuilding it so i didnt get them mixed up. ? idk just seemed weird that it was already stamped.
