ok a 1990 aod w/shift kit, at full throttle the tac shifts btwn 4500-4800 rpms. Is this normal for auto trans? The shifts are quick and firm, they don't lag, and there is enough fluid in the trans. Do you think the bands need to be adjusted or something else. The car seems to make great power, I'm just use to seeing for ie: my ranger shifts at 5800 rpms at full throttle, so what gives? Or could my tac just be out of wack? If you listen to the car, and say you shift it without looking at a tac. It seems to be right on cue. I would like it to climb up the rpm ladder a little more for my taste. I may just save up the money and get rid of this trans, so what are my opinions for autos? I would love to do a manual swap, but I don't want to go though all the bs to do so. thanks for any info.
later,
Bill

I have a 90LX and recently converted my AOD to a T5. My auto at full throttle would shift about 4800 RPM.
I see you live in Wildwood. My family has a summer home in Cape May Point. I go up there every June to go fishing.

Hey thats cool, next time you come up just look me up. Maybe we'll meet up or something. They do have a mustang meet in wildwood now every year so well see. How was the t-5 swap? I would rather have a 5-speed man. then an auto. Do they sell kits for this? thanks for any info.

I had the T5 swap professionally done. That and the new 373 gear really woke the car up. It was definitely worth it.
