Default AFR 165 questions...

I have found a set of AFR 165 heads for a good price. They have been ported and the intake part was ported to 2.02 and it recieved larger valves and stronger springs. My question is would these heads be too much for a planned H/C/I combo with a supercharger planned in the next few years? Will it be a slug on the street? Need help ASAP

They would work great on the street with the right cam intake and exhaust and a set of gears . Thats a pretty potent combo . I say get em . How much does the person want for them ?

I am calling him tonight to finalize the deal. What do you all think would be a good offer? With the bigger valves will i have any clearance issues?

I was just browsing corral and they were talking that the AFR185 need notched pistons due to the larger 2.02 valves. This kind of scares me because the 165 I have been looking at has the upraded larger valves. Will they also need notched pistons because if they do i dont think i will be able to afford this setup.

this is what you need to do, pick either the AFR 185's or those 165's, call ed curtis or email him at www.flowtechinduction.com and tell him you want a blower cam for the heads you plan on going with, and he will custom grind you a cam. Let him now what your plans are if it be drag, or track racing, what you plan on doing with your motor. Also, if he was the one who ported the heads, I wouldn't get any other cam than from Ed himself. With the right supporting parts, you should have 300+ to the wheels.

I will email Ed about the cam, but i wont be putting a blower on until at least some time next winter. I want to do the H/C/I this summer so should I keep stock cam for now and wait to match one to a S-trim or get a cam that will work for both and still be able to run smoothly for a street driven NA setup? So no clearance issues?

Update. I am ordering the heads for 1200. What do you all think of the price? Did i get a pretty good deal? The heads had about 1500 miles on them before he removed them for a bigger setup. I am looking forward to finishing the H/C/I for my car. When i get them i will post some pics for you all.
