Default Power windows and Radio not working

I have an intermittent problem with my windows and radio not working. I was coming home for the store this morning and I could not roll up my power windows and also I noticed my radio was not working. I opened up my Chiltons to see if they were on the same fuse and they are not. I then started my car back up and they both started working, Any ideas?

Your intermittent problem, When one goes out, so does the other? or are the both going out from time time at different point in time? how often has this been happening?

Do you have an aftermarket alram connected to the windows? I had the same problem and the Viper alarm was the culprit. I took a whole day and stripped the old alarm from my factory wiring and installed a new alarm. Stuff like that tends to crap out factory systems over time

Default Your intermittent problem

The last time this happend was with the radio and it was about two weeks ago. I did not notice if the windows were working or not. The way I fixed it was te same by turning the ignition off and on. I do not have a car alram.

Default It's happening again

The problem I mentioned is happening more frequently. It used to happen once a week now it's daily. When I first start my car I have no power to my radio or windows. If I turn the car off and on the power comes back. I was discussing this with a relative and he said it could be the ignition module. What do you guys think?

It could be the ignition switch located half way down the steering column. I believe that there was a recall to replace the switch. You can check it out at Alldata or give your vin number to your nearest Ford dealer and have them run a check for possible recalls.

hey dude;its definately not the ign module and the power windows has its own breaker while the radio has its own fuse.more than likely the ign switch is the problem here.the next time this occurs turn the switch to the acc position and see if all works ok,if so change the switch.

It sound like a bad connection somewhere that vibration sets it off. Check your wiring for a woron out or bare wire(s) on both systems (window and radio) It takes time, but it could cause shorts elsewhere. When you have a short, the electrical find the weakest link and causes havoc...

Default ignition switch

Well I bought a new ignintion switch from NAPA and went to install it last Saturday.I removed the plastic piece from the steering column and located the ignition switch. I noticed the connector was not pugged in all the way. I pushed the connector in and hooked up the battery and started the car. The problem went away and have not noticed it since. Thanks for all your help.
