I would think that unless you are making huge HP it wouldn't be worth it to go with a 9 inch. They may be great but it's my understanding that they eat up more HP due to friction than the 8.8.

So unless you make enough HP to really need it an 8.8 will be more than adequate not to mention it will be less costly and simpler.

Just my 2cents.

Where did you hear/read this? Just curious. I know they are heavier and could cause a slight lose in power for that. I'm not questioning your comment, just want proof.
