Default Newbie with rear end questions

I bought a 4 cyl 1990 Mustang a while back because I needed something to drive. I decided I want to go ahead and convert it to a 5.0L.

I am going to be slowly doing this project and decided I would start with the rear end first. I have been looking all over the place for a rear end and I found an ad in my local paper today that this guy has a rear end for 87-93 mustangs. I called him up and talked to him and he said the rear end was out of a 1974 Maverick. He said it is an 8.8" but they are five lug.

I forgot to ask him if that was disc or drum but assume it is a drum setup since he didn't say anything about it. He wants $100 for the rear end complete.

My question is will it work in my car or should I look for one out of a mustang?

Thanks Chad

The Maverick uses leafs, you need a newer rear end.

Get one from a Mustang, and better yet, convert it to 5 lug, there are more wheels available
