ive never took one out but i have driven a car without one. its not bad i have also driven a power steering car when the power steering goes out and it takes everything you have to turn.

plus i like the feeling of non-powered steering! it feels liek a race car then! Has anyone ever done this before?
It will feel like a race car when you slam into something because your power steering is gone. Dont remove it unless you get a manual rack or else it will get old FAST.
The weight savings is minimum and more than unlikely unoticable.
Theres a difference in the steering racks? I never knew that, i always just thought it was the pump that made it power steering. oh well, maybe ill just look for a manual rack for a mustang, what years do the mustangs make manual steering?

isnt there a way that you can plug your exsisting rack and pinion so it keeps some fluid inside? i remember hearing about it but i dont know where. Im about to take the pump out too.
Im a youngster too...im only 19 and i dont want the power steering!!! These other foxers are spoiled!!! $169 isnt that bad! I cant wait to get some money up to do this mod....thanks katmandu

That would help the lubrication issue, but the steering would still be a bear.
