Default Stripped Bolt - Vortech SQ-Trim

Im my quest in resolving my '93 GT's overheating issue, i replaced the supercharger belt and made the most idiotic mistake ever made...

I stripped the threads of one of the bolt that holds the belt tensioner plate.

3 bolts holds the plate down and the bolt with the stripped threads is the bolt that anchors the plate to the supercharger itself.

Question: would substituting the the bolt for a stud be a good idea?

After speaking with Vortech, they want the entire supercharger so they can do a "minor" repair- check/replace seals, bearings, etc. $500 at the most.

Thanks.

for a stripped out hole, buy you a perma-coil kit, or what I always called a heli-coil. comes with tap and insertion tool. you do have to supply the drill bit. just drill out the old threads to the size specified, tap hole, then screw in new insert. just need to make sure of the size bolt that came out. pretty simple. if you dont have the tool to insert the coil I suggest buying the kit. The last kit I bought was like 25.00 or so.
