Default alternator bracket on edelbrock heads?

i'm putting all the pulleys back together now and i'm on the big bracket that holds the alternator and tensioner...there's a big hole in the head that goes right through to the other side, in the head it's a 5/8" hole, but a 5/8" bolt will not fit through the hole in the bracket in order to thread into the head...i believe that hole is for some kind of emissions setup, is it possible that maybe that hole was smaller on the stock head, and it's larger on the edelbrock?...i'm really confused here any help would be great!

Is it possible you put the heads on backwards (wrong side)? It's easy to do as they will go on either way. It's worth checking to make sure.

nope, that doesn't matter the heads are indentical to each other so regardless of which you put on what side, the holes would be the same!
