Default Transmission rebult and now i can't jack car by crossmember?

i had my AOD rebult and got it back from the shop today. No probs with the tranny, i am very happy however my x-pipe needs tweaked a bit as there is a small exhaust leak. I went to jack by the crossmember up front like i always do and the car won't come off the ground. It puts pressure on there and jacks around the motor a bit but i can't get the tires off the ground. I am worried as i can see my front coil springs bending inward as i jack. What the heck did they when they put my car back together?

dude; what your saying doesnt really dictate logic but if the front coil springs are going inward as you jack up the car its because the front wheels are being lifted off the ground or at least beginning to lift.

sorry for the confusion. As i jack from the crossmember the car reaches a point where it won't go any higher. It puts significant pressure on the coil springs. The thing is, this point where it won't go any higher is only half of my jacks height limit.

Have you ever disconnected your motor mount bolts and raised the motor with a jack? eventually you top out because lots of stuff is connected and you can't jack any higher. The same thing is happening now when i jack by the crossmember....

Well first of all , dont jack up the car from the transmission crossmember. Raise it under the motor or under the differential. If your car is really low, you may need to raise it by the control arm first with a smaller jack to put in a large jack.

Did they remove the lower frame support? If so did they reinstall it. I don't even know if you should have one but I know that a '96 does. I'm in the middle of a clutch change right now and I thought about taking that off but figure I would have to get an alighnment if so, so I didn't.

Hope you're talking about the crossmember under the motor, did
you recently remove your front swaybar?
Here's a real longshot; maybe the shop left the car up on a frame
lift the whole time they had it, and the front springs stretched out and...

Yea, I really hope you aren't jacking up the car from the transmission crossmember. You should be jacking it up by the k-member.
