Smile gas door problem

My gas door will not open with the button. Is there any kind of backup option other than prying on the door itself till it pops? Also, how do I figure out if the button is the problem or a solenoid. Anybody know what is uasually the case with these? Thanks.

on my 86 hatchback there is a wire rope that manually will release the gas door, it is under the carpet in the rear of the car on the gas door side.

And when it's open, remove the bracket from the door that serves as
the latch.

My convertible doesnt have this. My hatchback does. I'd check the fuses first because it's pretty nice to have the button in the glove box.

My coupe has the backup cable as well, pretty sure all Mustangs have it.

Thanks all, I knew there had to be some kind of backup. Does anybody sell the solenoid, if that is the problem? I know the buttons are like 7 bucks.

Default test the button

just break out the ohmeter, disconnect the wires from the button, connect meter to two leads on the button ,set meter on ohms(resistance ) and push the button--if you get no resistance when you pusha da button the button is good------------
