Ok I reccently got smart and purchased a 93 Lx 5.0 mustang which is a big step up from the 98 v6 i had. The car has a few mods on it, 30,xxx miles on new cobra motor which is all good. The problem is there's a clicking or an exhaust leak sound coming from the left side of the motor, not very noticable at a good rev but @ idle it tends to be a little louder. i think it may have a blown header gasket or somehow the last bolt in that side has come loose. I'm new to 5.0's but i think it may be common sense but i wanted someone elses expert opinion.

There should be a pipe coming from the back of the heads to the emissions equipment. It is common that people rip that out when they remove their smog stuff, but forget to plug the back of the heads. So as the car revs, you hear the exhaust noise.

You can probably easily see it. Rev it up and listen for it. Then put your hand over the hole while it's cold and it should go away.

You could have an exhaust leak from a blown header gasket(s), or your H pipe to headers nut-bolts are loose.

Told ya it was a headder gasket Berry. Like Ghost said, it's more than likely a headder gasket or the emissions tube, Billy had to crimp my emissions tube off, we'll try that. Thanks guys.

my v6 has the exact same sound & no one (around here) can figure it out... we had it lifted & couldn't find a leak

Could be your emissions tube as well.
