Default 90 LX Hatch deal that I need help with...

Hey guys. I have a offer for a 90 LX hatch with about 99K on the motor and 1K on the AOD. I was looking for a 5 speed but for the price I don't think I should pass it up. The car has 3 dings, 2 on the hood and one on the left rear quarter. The front bumper needs to be replaced and the LX right tail light has a hole in it. The interior is a little funny to me but I am gonna post pics to see what you guys think happened to this car to get these seats. I can get the car for about $2200 and it is supposed to have 4.10s, alum drive shaft,

Paul1580: 90 LX hatch coupe
Paul1580: brand new tranny
Paul1580: AOD with 4:10s in the rear
Paul1580: aluminum driveshaft
Paul1580: BBK off road h pipe
Paul1580: flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers
Paul1580: 99k on motor.. less than 1000 on tranny
Paul1580: needs fuel pump but he says if you want it he will have it fixxe
Paul1580: speedo is out of wack cause of gears


I have the whole conversation. I don't know if he floats around here or not but man, this could be a steal. I am waiting on the VIN to run a carfax. If it comes back clean then i might have to make the trip. Let me know what you guys think.

There looks like a hole in the right tail light assembly on the brake section. Sounds likea good deal. I personally hate autos but if it runs great I'd go for it. I can help you with the T5 swap if you chose to do that.

I'd double check the gears in the back. Raise the rear of the car with a jack and put it on stands. Turn the rear wheel 5 times. You also have to watch the driveshaft (a friend that can count is helpful).

If the driveshaft turns
20 1/2 times = 4.10's
18 1/2 times = 3.73's
17 1/2 times = 3.55's

Ghost Dog, thanks a million. I am conflicted. I would have to borrow some cash from family to get the car so that is what is holding me back. I don't know if it is worth going into debt over. As for the T-5 swap, I would want to do it but not for a while (read at least a year).

TnPaulMan, that sounds like a great deal. I just piced up a 98 GT with a 100k auto for $1200.
It needs paint other than that its mint. Got it from a friend that didnt know how to work on cars so he got a new car instead of fixing the stang. It needed a alt. and batt. Get that cafax first good luck

Not bad also not a fan of auto's but seems like a steal... interior looks clean.....
