Ok If I were 2 get underdrive pulleys for my 87 gt.... do I have 2 change the alternator pulley or can I stick with the stock one........ I seen a couple sets of just 2 wiith out alternator pulley for really cheap... and im looking for some more hp's ive already eliminated the smog pump so im using the smaller belt already..... if I put these other pulleys on will I have 2 change belts again??? and if so what belt?? and also should I just get the set that has alternator pulley 2???? looking for most performance. Thanks.

First of all, I wouldnt ever put an underdrive pulley with a stock alternator (weak 75 amp). I wouldnt go so far to say you wouldnt have to change the belt if you change the crank and water pump pulley, but you might have to get one 1/2" shorter or 1" at the most. Most part stores will find you a smaller belt with no hassle, and if they give you a hassle give them hell.

I just put a new belt on mine yesterday to get rid of the smog pump. I have bbk under drive pulleys and the alternator is under driven also. The belt I used was a 75inch. Hope that helps u. It took 5 belts to get it right. Well 1 time they delievered the wrong belt, typical.

you can change the crank and water pump pulley if you want but your not gonna get the full advantage of an underdrive set.you may want to upgrade the alt first then go ahead and install a 3-pulley set.youll get the full advantage and you wont comprmise the charging system.
