Having a 'major' problem getting an AOD install to work. Car shifts prematurely from 1st all they way to OD. We have had a tranny shop spend several hours attempting to set the TV pressure & cable. Car still does the same. Using aftermarket intake, TB & EGR spacer. Wondering if the linkage could require modification? This problem has been driving us nuts. Any suggestions or help would be great. Someone has to have run into this problem before with an AOD.
i would have said the tv cable adjustment but since that has already been tried i dont know. maybe go back and check it again to make sure its good....maybe they dont know how to set it right.

ALL of this was done by myself....including the porting and gea
I dont know transmissions.. but the ones I have worked on, the shift problems were due to the Modulator Valve.. A little adjustment on this would help hold shifts a little more... just my 2 pennys...
Have you contacted the company you got the tranny from. My first guess would have been the TV, but it sounds internal to me. Maybe governer.
I have a trans guy that knows AOD's, but I can't get a hold of him till Monday. He has build three for me. If you don't find the answer by Monday I will call him.

AOD pressure settings are very critical. Getting it close is not good enough. I am assuming that the transmission shop is using the proper spacer tool that fits behind the TV cable and a pressure guage to set the pressures? If not ask and find out how they are adjusting it for your and our peace of mind.
If everything is set right and you are still having trouble then I would look at the valve body for sticking valves, missing check valves, incorrect springs accumulator leaking etc....

thats what i thought.....i think it is most likely the tv cable not being adjusted correctly. it is VERY important to get it right....an improperly adjusted tv cable will greatly reduce the life of the tranny!!

A friend bought Dave D'Angelio's 91 Saleen form Ron White. Car still has only 38,000km on it. Just putting it all back together and having a piss of a time getting it to shift correctly.
