What kind of oil pan? Are you just changing the gasket ? There are many different configurations you can chose as far as oil pans go. Did you want to put a windage tray while it's off? Why do you want to put a different pan?
I have a 7 quart canton and installed a windage tray at the same time. I also changed out my oil pump and oil pump shaft. I did all of this with the motor in the car.
i'm not sure. it has always leaked a little so i was thinking about changing it out, but if a gasket is all i need then thats is all i will change. what do i need to change it out??

i was thinking that same thing, but i need to change my oil pan because jiffy lube striped the drain plugs, and the seal is falling out.
is the windage tray good?
how would we take out the pan with the engine in? Did you pull the engine up a little to get the pan out?
I raised the motor by disconnecting the radiator hoses, fan shroud, throttle body hose, transmission crossmember bolts, and a few other things. Just watch as you raise the car up, anything in a bind will need to be removed/adjusted. I unbolted the motor mouts and put 2x4's inbetween the motor mount and K member area. To install the new pan I also had to temporarily remove the stabilizer bar on the passenger side (not the sway bar).
To change the gasket you won't have to raise it up as high as if you were removing the pan.
I have a stock 5.0 oil pan that is in perfect condition (cosmetic age though) that I can send you for the shipping.
I put a large 2" thick piece of wood inbetween a floor jack and jacked it up under the oil pan. Once you raise the motor up, put your 2x4's inbetween the motor mount and the K member.
