5.4 dohc in foxbody

Hi guys. Im looking to build a 1f150 lighting motor to put in my foxbody. Not I know the heads are toast as the motor over heated. So im planning on putting heads off a 01 cobra I have on it . Will the bottom end be ok for +400 horse power? Will this motor fit without taking out the shocktowers and what k member would be the best for the swap? Anybody done this before?

what intake are you going to use?...4.6 heads on a 5.4 really doesn't work, you will also need an ECU, transmission and or adapter and wiring harnesses(remember you are putting a mod motor in a small block car, nothing is compatible), also the fuel system has to be redone...not the best of swaps unless you are master mechanic and have alot of money and parts to throw at the build...

So what ur saying is that the bottom end of the motor isn't good for a na application? So I have to go with new rods and high comp pistons. I was also planing on making a custom intake to try and keep my 2car in cawl hood. Also I live in cincinnati and I don't know any one that can port my heads. Anyone know of someone?

For what I remember when I built my 2001 Lightning is that the compression ratio is 9.?:1.... The factory crackshaft is good to about 1,000hp. The Pistons will hold up to 550-600hp but the factory connecting rods are known for about 400-440hp, All flywheel HP mind you. The Lighting heads wouldn't benefit you much since the vehicle you intend to install this motor in is fairly lighter. All together to save you the time and money just find a used Terminator motor. The 2v Lightning motor is fine and all but 4v>2v anyday of the year! Plus finding out what heads will be a good match for your driving purpose VS if they even match the lightning blocks coolant passages and what not is a headache all in its on!

well it fits if you dont like using a hood but you probably need special headers and all sorts of stuff

**Allthoughhh that would probably look sweet with a cowl hood with a shaker scoop in it just a suggestion

Fits fine. I used an AJE k-member(before they made the universal mount style) and solid mounts. I didn't have headers figured out yet, so I used 03/04 cobra manifolds.

Well with what I've heard the 5.4 and 4.6 are identical other then the deck height. I wasnt planing on using the supercharger for this project as I the thing would just stick so far out the hood it wouldn't be funny. I was just really wondering if the wider heads of thethe dohc 5.4 would fit between the shock towers.
