351W how much HP and any fuel upgrades?

Hey guys and girls,

I'm currently waying out my options as what to do for a motor. I am running a V3 SC and its putting down 461 RWHP so I'm at the limits of a stock 302 block. I'm thinking about going 351W cause the block is stronger and nowhere near the cost of a dart block. Here's the question for any of you guys running a 351W, What kind of power are you making and did you have to do any fuel system upgrades? I have a 255 fuel pump and was running 42lb injectors but am going to go bigger for future plans.

what rotating assembly do you have now? by the time you get a 351W block, machine work, rotating assy. you could probably get a dart block...

Right now it's a stock block with 400,000KM's on it. I can pick up a 351 for 50 and get it machined, rods sized, new forged pistons, ARP hardware and reassembled for $1500 CAD So that's no where near the the 6K it would cost for a 347BB from CHP.

How long have you had the aeromotive system? Any problems with the pump crapping out? I heard there famous for that.

If I recall the Dart Sportsman blocks are under 3k and handle upwards of 700hp+.

Sure, you can go with a 351... then you gotta change up a whole bunch of crud.

Why are you yelling at me? It's a stock block so stock crank, rods and pistons. Anyways this was started to see about HP numbers and what kind of fuel upgrades are needed. I've Looked into everything to get the block into my car and it's about $800 CAD plus $1500 CAD to get it machined, rods sized, new forged pistons, ARP hardware and reassembled and just a sportsman block starts at $2500 USD

i did not ask anything about your block. you have a vortec and tfs heads, why would we assume you have a stock crank, rods, and pistons? sounds like you've got it figured out, good luck.

If you get a 351 the block can handle around 700 hp you can get there only with the SC. Without stroking it the 351 will not really put out enough hp over the 302 to justify the more weight added. You will need a cowl hood, 351 distributor, 351 specific headers and maybe another thing or two like a better 351 intake. Hp justifys your fuel consumption. Basically with a hp increase something will need to be upgraded. 300 you need injectors 65mm tb and spacer with 70mm maf, 190 fuel pump. 400 hp you need 30# injectors 255 lph fuel pump 70mm tb and 75mm maf. 500 hp you need 42# inj 255 pump 75mm tb 80mm maf, 550 hp 42# inj 255lph pump and an inline pump like a t rex if boosted. 600 hp you probably need bigger inj and pump, definelty bigger fuel lines, 90mm maf tb etc. and so on. Also these numbers can be on the low sde on a boosted app.

Thank you spdjnky_42 That's what I was asking. I have 80lb injectors a 255 fuel pump, 75mm tb, 90mm lightning MAF, I can get the headers and distributer locally for $150 , so I know what else I will need to make this work. Anyone know where to get a good fuel system for a decent price?

Well stock fuel lines will be maxed out so start piecing together lines, fittings and a pump ( I am sure they have a kit). Along with what junky said it correct as you will need to feed the beast.

Also there is no guarantee that the 351 will support 700 hp if not built correctly as it is a factory block not necessarily made for racing.
