will spindles off a 1994-1995 mustang fit a fox body?
a buddy of mine has a older hatch back(can't remember the year 87-93) and he wants some 17 inch factory 2001 GT wheels I came across for 50 dollars, all four in perfect condition for $50. Anyways, he wants them to put on his hatch back because it came with some ugly chrome tri-stars when he bought it. So, my question is, came we search the salvage yard for some spindles and brakes off a newer mustang. I see stangparts.com has a kit for like $495 or something like that.
As far as I know, the spindles off a 94 up will fit the Fox. These are required to put the newer wheels on a Fox because of the different in the dustcaps, like you said.
yes they do fit, modifications depend on year, I have a set on my 86 (more modifications than on a 87-93). To get everything to line up right, get a set of Maximum Motorsports CC plates (in my opinion, the best on the market). The best way to go (in my opinion again) is to buy the Ford Racing Performansce Parts Cobra brake kit (M-2300-K), it retails for arround $1800, and do not pay shipping if you can get an out of state deal, it is a REAL HEAVY KIT!
werent you going to put those rims on your car....i thought i remember you asking a question about them before about what type of tires you could use.

ALL of this was done by myself....including the porting and gea
i was going to put them on my car, but, i am getting a 302 motor or 300 dollars. he is putting a new motor in his car and i am either getting his old motor to rebuild my 347 stroker, or 300 dollars, i only paid $50 for the wheels.
if you need modification, how does mustang parts specialties sell the conversion kit using all sn95 parts:calipers, caliper brackets, rotors, brake lines, spindles, and hubs. with all this you still need to modify something?

most modifications are small things, like modifying lines and fittings, however with the M2300K, you have a massive booster to massage in and with the 79-86's, you need new struts, all FOX'es will need a good st of CC plates
You can use your same strut. You will want to get spindles from a 96+ they have better ackerman and allow you to use the newer PBR dual piston brakes from the newer 99 cars. Pretty easy swap. No need to spend 1800 on the FMS kit. You can peice it together with better parts for less.

the problem with the 96+ spindle is that they widen the track of the car, and that could lead to some rubbing. The main reason that I went with the kit is that ALL parts are new, and I really do not trust used axles or spindles, especially if they come off of a wrecked car
*edit* The 79-86 5.0 use a different strut than the 87-93 5.0's
they are wider by about 5mm each side...not that big of a deal. We did a swap with these on my buddies 86 vert and he as 245/45/17's...no rub...if they locate the tire further from the frame how is it going to rub? This would be similar to decreasing the back spacing on a rim. Makes the wheel stick out further.
