Default need suggestions with my setup changes on 347

I pulled the engine to replace and oil pump and check the engine bearings to make sure everything is ok. I want to make some additional changes to the engine. This summer I went to a track and my best was a 13.5@104. This was slower then my original block and e303, gt-40p, etc. The current cam is a trick flow stage 2. I was thinking about doing a custom cam from anderson motorsports. Any ideas or suggestions? I have plenty of clearance on the pistons. So far I have purchased 1.7 rockers that I will be using with my new cam. Rick from Anderson Motorsports suggested going to a 75 or 80 mm throttle body. What do you guys think of that? If I go 80 then I need to convert to the fox style because you cant get 80 in 94-95 application. I am also using 30lb injectors but have been reading some articles in my 5.0 magazines where they have dynoed (with good results) some 347's using 36lb injectors. What do you guys think I should do. Thanks

My current setup is trick flow stage 2 cam, edelbrock rpm, afr 185's, 30lb injectors, 77mm pro-m.. I plan on going from shorties to full length headers.

wow, you should be seeing better times with that motor. Has it been tuned yet? That just might be your problem. Also look into an FTI cam. Give Ed curtis a call, he might even help you solve what is wrong with your car now.

I think you just need a run or two on a dyno with a qualified tech.....The 30lb inj :thumbsup ectors should be just fine IMHO.

It hasnt been tuned yet. I have a tweecer and have made some changes and have noticed some improvements. I plan on getting a wideband o2 before spring and trying to dial in my mass air. Where do I go about finding this Ed Curtis guy? Does he have a website?

In all honesty your combo looks good. It just might need a good tuner. 94/95's are a B*tch to tune. I would go find an SCT tuner, and see what they can do, before you spend a little more on a cam swap. But anyway, here is Ed Curtis' site:

So what kind of results could I expect over an off shelf cam? I am just curious to know if I would benefit a lot or if I should stick with what I have.

As you can see by my sig, our combos are almost exactly the same except for my FTI Ed custom camshaft. You will be fine with those 30's in my opinion. YOu should be able to run in the 12's easy with what you have already. What compression ratio are you running? What cc are the heads? I am running 12.70's stock chip with 1.88 60 ft times. If I can get my a/f ratio right and cut a 1.65-1.70 60 I think I will be able to hit a low 12 to high 11 1/4 mile. By the way my combo made 319 rwhp 360 ft. lbs. running way rich with stock chip.

I would think that your block would be putting out more horsepower then that. I am not sure what my compression is. I have AFR 185's with a 58cc combustion and my pistons have a -14.0 cut. All I know is when I purchased the engine that -14.0 was listed in the parts sheet.

All I am going to say is, It is in the tune. Both your cars should be running hard, and I mean in the 11's. A firend of mine has a 331, TW heads, XE274HR cam, and all the bolt ons, on an automatic '95 and is hitting mid 12's. His car was tuned by an SCT dealer. JR you do I really suggest you stick with what you have, and just get it tuned.

thanks for you help. i really dont want to spend the extra cash on something if i really dont need it. what do you think about my throttle body? do you think the 70 is fine or should i go to a 75 or 80? i suppose going to large like an 80 would cause me to lose some low end torque.

Yea I know mine has more power in it thats why I kept saying "stock chip" plus I am running real rich at 11:1 a/f ratio. I really think I will be over 350 rwhp when I get it tuned with a chip. Oh did I mention its smog legal also.
