Default Power washing Engine Compartment

I want to power wash my engine compartment but i dont know what to cover or what kind of chemicals i should use

Cover the distributor / distributor cap, battery, and ignition coil . I would try to avoid hosing it down by the starter area. Any standard degreaser should work.

You are dealing with alot of electronics, so blow out all the connectors with air

I wash mine all the time and I never cover anything, although one time I started up my car and it idled funny for a few minutes and then fixed itself. There's really nothing to worry about. Degrease, let is soak in, then spray off. If you can, try to go to one of those "do-it-yourself" coin-op carwashes and use the "rinse" or "spot-free rinse" spray so it doesn't leave any rust behind.

i use a leaf blower to dry everything, you'd be amazed at the amount of water that comes flying out of different wire connections, plugs, harness, etc.

Definitely cover the distributor. I have hosed out my engine compartment many times.
I covered the distrib with a ziplock bag once and it worked great until water dripped down after restart and killed it several times. Make sure it's completely dry before driving somewhere...
