Default Modifying an engine harness from an explorer and have some questions

Im building an engine harness for my project. Im using 99 p head explorer engine in an 88 5.0 thunder chicken.

I have spliced all the injector, and the ECT, Temp, oil sender connectors to the 88 GT harness.

The explorer lower does not have a hole for the IAT. I was going to extend the connector and put it in the inlet duct between the air filter and TB. I have seen a thread on here saying that would be ok. My questions are will the IAC/idle bypass from the expo work or do I need to use a stang one.

I swaped the throttle cable bracket over to the expo TB allready and eliminated the egr valve using the resistor trick.

There is one connector that has one red and one Grey/yellow stripe. it is on the passenger side of the harness and comes to the front of the head and connects to another connector which goes down to some black plasic deal with vacum lines comming out. I think it is a solonoid switch control of some sort to open or close a valve to allow vacume or not. Any Idea what this is for? If it is smog stuff I want to eliminate it but only if it doesnt cause problems with the computer (88 mustang SD)
